Personal Development
We strongly believe in the paramount importance of developing children not only academically, but as all-rounders, confident individuals.
Pupil Leadership
All Year 6 children are given the opportunity to be leaders during their final year. Pupils submit a written application for the role they wish to apply for, such as:- House Captains
- Sports Leaders
- Reading with Reception children
- Fundraising
- Representing the school when visitors come to visit.
Leaders have raised funds to purchase equipment and decorations for the STEAM room, and they have also fundraised for charity and for school equipment, such as the dressing up clothes and Lego in the playground.
The role involves launching and running these events to ensure all children feel they have a part in the development of the school. School Council members are elected by their peers each autumn and support in our Celebration Assemblies.
Eco-Council and School Council
Children in Years 3-6 can also apply to be part of the Eco-Council and School Council. One child is selected per class.
For the Eco-Council, candidates must create a presentation to present to their class explaining why they would be good for this role. For the School Council, candidates must write a letter explaining why they would be good for the role. The staff lead for school council chooses the top three letters per class, and those students then give a speech to their class persuading them to vote for them.
Both of these roles are then voted for through a democratic class vote.
Awards
We have launched a scheme that helps all pupils track and celebrate what they already do in school, as well as outside the classroom, nurturing their holistic personal growth.
The scheme is linked to our HEART values and sees pupils work towards the awards when they are in school, at home, and during their extra-curricular clubs and activities.
According to a set of criteria, which are different for Key Stage 1 and for Key Stage 2, we issue bronze, silver and gold awards. Read our presentation on school awards.
